Cedar Rapids is the second largest metro area in Iowa and offers a great deal of diverse entertainment. If your interest is sports, check out a Cedar Rapids RoughRiders hockey game at the 4,000-seat Cedar Rapids Ice Arena, or head out to the new Veterans Memorial Baseball Park for a Cedar Rapids Kernels game. If you’d rather participate in the activity, take a hike or go for a bike ride on the 50+ mile Cedar Valley Nature Trail.
If it’s the theater that interests you, catch a performance by the Cedar Rapids Symphony or a Broadway production at the historic Paramount Theatre. There’s also Theater Cedar Rapids, one of the region’s largest and oldest community theaters and home of the Cedar Rapids Opera and many other entertaining shows.
Those are just the beginning of many cultural aspects of Cedar Rapids. The History Center offers the history of Linn County and takes you back to downtown Cedar Rapids at the turn of the 20th century on the TimeQuest. The Museum of Art showcases an extensive collection of Grant Wood and Marvin D. Cone artwork. The Science Station is a wonderful science and technology museum with over 130 hands-on exhibits for kids young and old. Additionally, the Science Station houses the new McLeod/Busse IMAX® Dome Theater.
